Nominator's project description

Professor Watkins is a leading expert in 18th century philosophy. In his influential book, Kant and the Metaphysics of Causality, he demonstrated Kant’s indebtedness to the metaphysics of his rationalist predecessors. Professor Watkins has also made important contributions to the history of science, ethics and the philosophy of religion. In Germany, he will work on a book about the idea of ‘the unconditioned’ in Kant, German Idealism and Romanticism.
