Nominator's project description

Professor Hosseini started a new area of research dealing with solid state chemistry and crystal engineering. Combining molecular and supramolecular synthesis, he explored the use of the majority of possible attractive intermolecular forces including coordination bonding, which subsequently led to a large number of coordination polymers and MOFs (metal organic frameworks). His contributions to supramolecular chemistry, solid state supramolecular chemistry and molecular tectonics are genuine and outstanding. During his stays in Karlsruhe, Professor Hosseini will strengthen his collaborations with chemists in the fields of surface-functionalization and the use of chiral gels for catalysis and separation.
