Nominator's project description
| Prof. David Wellbery, University of Chicago, is one of the most prominent experts on German literature in the United States. His monographs on Lessing and on Goethe's lyric work have become standard works in their respective fields. As editor, he has continually supported the transfer of theories - semiotics, media and systems theory - between America and Germany. His research project on the role of mimesis in the production of modern knowledge is situated within this framework. Very few people equal his ability in successfully uniting a broad theoretical horizon and the love of literature. |
