Nominator's project description
| Piero Madau, an outstanding astrophysical cosmologist, was among the first to realise that the global formation history of galaxies can be read directly from deep observations of distant objects. His insights motivated many of the programmes of the last decade on the new generation of large telescopes as well as the design of planned future facilities. As observations have clarified how the bulk of present-day objects were assembled, he has sought innovative ways to see ever closer to the onset of the Cosmic Dawn. |
