Nominator's project description
| Professor Michael Friedman is among the most highly reputed philosophers of our time. He has profoundly shaped major areas of contemporary philosophy. In particular, he has made ground-breaking contributions in the philosophy of space and time and the theory of scientific explanation. In addition, he has deepened considerably the understanding of Kant's philosophy of science and has developed a new reading of the early history of Logical Empiricism. The project that Friedman intends to pursue during his stay in Germany is directed at articulating and defending the claim that the objectivity and rationality of scientific progress can be elucidated by using a dynamical and historicized version of the Kantian a priori. |
