Nominator's project description
| Prof. Daniel M. Sigman (Princeton University) is a world expert in the growing area of ¿Global Biogeochemical Cycles'. His research aims to elucidate the large scale feedbacks acting on Earth's environment and climate, chemical, physical and biological. He has made major contributions to our understanding of the modern ocean nitrogen cycle and its changes over recent ice age cycles. He has also played a key role in the evolution of hypotheses for the cause of carbon dioxide changes of over these same cycles. In Germany, Sigman will collaborate with Prof. Gerald Haug (GFZ Potsdam) on the measurement of nitrogen isotopes in microfossils from sediment records collected in the low latitude ocean. |
