Nominator's project description
| Professor Hervé Bocherens is honoured with the Humboldt Research Award for his groundbreaking contributions to palaeobiology and evolutionary ecology. He opened the field of reconstructing the diet of extinct animals using geochemical signals from fossil bones and teeth. His methods are widely applied in modern Palaeontology. Professor Bocherens also works on the cutting edge of research for determining the diet of hominids. During his stay in Germany he is working on the evolutionary ecology and bone geochemistry of Swabian cave bears, Neanderthals and early modern humans. |
