Nominator's project description
| Professor Netzer is a world renowned authority on the physics of active galactic nuclei (AGN). He has been leading in the confrontation of theoretical calculations of atomic excitation and radiative transfer with modern multi-wavelength spectroscopy. He has devised and led a project measuring for the first time the size of the broad-line region and the mass of the central black hole in luminous AGN. Professor Netzer is going to work on the interpretation of spectra of AGN and luminous galaxy mergers obtained with infrared and X-ray space observatories. |
