Nominator's project description

Professor Dr. Juan Pablo Paz is an internationally renowned researcher in the field of quantum information and the foundations of quantum mechanics. He has made important contributions to the understanding of decoherence and its relevance to the transition from quantum to classical behavior of physical systems. Moreover, he is interested in possible applications of quantum computers and simulators and in the physics of quantum information. During his stay in Germany he intends to develop new quantum algorithms and new scenarios for the transition from the quantum to the classical world. Professor Paz is hosted by Professor Wolfgang P. Schleich at the University of Ulm and by Dr. Eric Lutz at the University of Augsburg.
