Nominator's project description

Professor Tremaine's studies of galaxies, star clusters and planetary systems have profoundly influenced our understanding of the structure, evolution and gravitational dynamics of these objects. Through his book "Galactic Dynamics" and his direction first of the new Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, then of the Princeton Department of Astrophysical Sciences, he has shaped a generation of astrophysicists, providing new techniques and new insights to drive their research.
