Nominator's project description
| Professor Casal is an international authority in the study of constitutional law and an active defender of the rule of law and human rights. His dissertation on the right of personal freedom influenced both the Spanish jurisprudence and the one of the Interamerican Court of Human Rights. In Germany he will study the dismantling of democratic institutions in Venezuela and other states of the region, in order to develop institutional designs aimed at overcoming them and avoiding their repetition. |
