Nominator's project description
| Professor Gadi Eisenstein belongs to the present world leaders in the fields of semiconductor optoelectronics, in particular for the fields of high speed fiber optics communications and microwave photonics. He achieved ground breaking results on the dynamics of nanostructure lasers, femtosecond pulse generation and optical amplifiers. Interdisciplinarity between materials science, optics, electrical engineering and deep understanding of all these areas characterizes his work. This background is also the major reason that Prof Eisenstein was jointly nominated by the science and electrical engineering faculties of TU Berlin. His work at the TU Berlin will focus on researching and demonstrating compact ultra low noise mode-locked quantum dot lasers using the unique experience and facilities of the Center of NanoPhotonics at TUB. |
