| Professor Varian is one of the leading economists and business intellectuals worldwide. He receives the award in special recognition of his rigorous, relevant, and interdisciplinary research on economic theory, financial economics, and the economics of information goods and the Internet. His main impact is directed towards a wide application of proper and modern scientific methods towards the true and in depth definition and analysis of real world problems. In Germany Professor Varian plans to work on information and market engineering, among others on position auctions and orphan works. |
