Nominator's project description
Professor Whiting is one of the leading classical philosophers in North America. She has published widely on Ancient Philosophy and succeeded to show that the theories and problems of ancient thinkers can be formulated and accentuated in a way that makes them relevant for the contemporary discussion. This is in particular true for her work, inspired by Aristotelian ideas, on the intersection of ethics, moral psychology and philosophy of mind. In Germany, Professor Whiting plans to write a book on Greek moral psychology and its contemporary accounts of personal identity and their alleged relations to rationality. |
