Nominator's project description
| Kit Fine, the Silver Professor of Philosophy and Mathematics at New York University, is one of the great living philosophers. His work covers the whole range of theoretical philosophy; he has published it in the best philosophical journals, along with five ground-breaking monographs. With the Anneliese Maier Research Award, Prof. Fine plans to conduct two series of annual workshops and finance five post-doctoral 'Fine Fellowships'. He will use his time in Germany to, among other things, put the finishing touches on a monograph on vagueness and another on the notion of ground; longer-term research plans concern the nature of essence and the metaphysics of everyday objects. |
