Nominator's project description
Dr. Nektarios Tavernarakis is one of the leading researchers in neurodegeneration and cellular senescence. Using the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans as a model for human disease, he made a number of very significant contributions to our understanding of the molecular mechanisms leading to necrotic cell death and cellular ageing. During his stay in Germany, he intends use systems biology approaches for a global understanding of the regulatory pathways controlling degenerative processes. |
