Nominator's project description
| Professor Nihat Berker is well-known for his ground-breaking work on critical systems and statistical mechanics of ordering phenomena. His research is characterized by intuitive thinking, creative modeling and detailed calculations.Berker invented the hierarchical lattices and made important contributions to the theory of disordered and frustrated systems, quantum phase transitions and small-world phenomena. In Germany, he will focus on microscopic theories for electrophoretic effects and transport of soft matter in structured matrices. |
