Nominator's project description

Professor Ooguri has discovered hidden geometric structures in quantum field theories and string theory, exploiting them to invent new theoretical tools to investigate these theories. In particular, he developed the topological string theory and used it to provide insights into the mysterious quantum mechanical properties of black holes. In Germany, Professor Ooguri plans to study the foundation and applications of the AdS/CFT correspondence between gauge theories and string theory.
