Nominator's project description

Prof. Landman has pioneered theoretical investigations and made groundbreaking discoveries about the fundamental origins underlying the emerging novel behavior of materials at the nanometer scale. Widely known for his trademark phrase "small is different," he established principles and methodologies that guided the growth of nanoscience to become the broad burgeoning field of scientific and technological pursuit that it is today. During his stay in Germany he would like to focus on two frontier directions in nanoscience: Nanocatalysis and certain aspects of superconducting nanostructures.
