Nominator's project description
| Lars Bäckman is a leading researcher in human cognition, with an emphasis on memory and aging. His research integrates behavioral neuroscience, epidemiology, and psychology. He has made important contributions to the role of dopamine functions in cognitive aging, the transition from normal aging to dementia, and the neural basis of age changes in cognitive plasticity and transfer of training. During his stay in Germany, he will combine brain imaging, pharmacological intervention, and genetics to further elucidate the neurochemistry of cognition and cognitive aging.
Professor Lars Bäckman is hosted by Professor Ulman Lindenberger at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin.
