Nominator's project description
Professor Recht is an international authority on the History of Art. He has made significant contributions to a wide array of fields ranging from gothic architecture and sculpture to contemporary art. He studied the artistic exchanges and cultural flows around the Rhine in depth and demonstrated the importance of the arts for the constitution of a European identity. During his stay in Germany he will focus on the history of art history, more specifically on the history of defining epochs and the relation between modern art around 1900, art historical writings and Gestalt theory. |
