Nominator's project description
| Professor Predrag Cvitanovic is highly regarded for his seminal work in nonlinear physics, particularly for introducing cycle expansions in periodic orbit theory. He has also made substantial contributions in group theory as well as quantum field theory. The wide impact of his theoretical work has most recently been demonstrated by his successful reconstruction of the state space of moderately turbulent flows. During his stay in Germany he is working with the groups at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization on the application of periodic orbit theory to fluid turbulence. |
