Nominator's project description

Professor Ton Nijhuis is an outstanding historian with particular interest in Modern German History and the Comparative History of Modern Europe. The history of German historiography is one of his major research areas. Over the years he has been the Director of the Amsterdam Duitsland Instituut. In this position he has played a major role in stimulating and coordinating scientific contacts, exchanges and cooperation between the Netherlands and Germany. During his stay in Germany he will do comparative research on the history of ideas in Germany and the Netherlands during the 20th century.
