| Professor Guoxiang Peng is one of the leading authorities in Chinese intellectual and religious history and Confucian studies in particular. He has made award winning research above all on Ming Dynasty Confucianism and today belongs to the young elite of the Chinese humanities.
Since December 2008, he is Professor of Chinese Philosophy, Intellectual History and Religion at the Tsinghua University in Beijing, occupying one of the most prestigious chairs in China. He will continue his studies in Germany with a focus on the relationship of Confucianism and religion and intercultural hermeneutics. Professor Peng is hosted by the research consortium "Dynamics in the History of Religions between Asia and Europe" at the Ruhr-University Bochum and by Professor Heiner Roetz from the Department of Chinese History and Philosophy of the same university. |
