Nominator's project description
With Asymmetric Brønsted Acid Catalysis, Professor Akiyama has pioneered one of the most useful concepts in enantioselective synthesis. In 2004 he introduced chiral phosphoric acid-catalysts and with this discovery initiated a small revolution in the field of asymmetric synthesis. His findings have inspired literally hundreds of groups around the world to utilize and further develop chiral phosphoric acid catalysts. In Germany, he intends to work on new and highly promising methodologies for asymmetric chemical synthesis. |
