Nominator's project description
| Professor Avouac is one of the internationally leading scientists in the field of geodynamics with an emphasis on active tectonics. His topic is the link between method development dedicated to the analysis of active deformation of the Earth's crust and earthquakes, climate-driven processes and landscape evolution. He has laid the foundations in several fields developing the methods currently relevant in this subject. During his stay in Germany, he intends to expand his most recent field of research, the deformation processes and mechanical aspects of very large earthquakes at Earth's plate boundaries. |
