Nominator's project description
| Prof. David Lordkipanidze is the lead investigator of the extraordinary paleoanthropological site of Dmanisi, Georgia, which has yielded the treasure of a unique series of 1.8 million years old hominin fossils. His discoveries document the first migrations of hominins out of Africa and into Eurasia, having a great impact on our thinking about human evolution. During his stay in Germany, he is aiming at reconstructing the palaeoenvironment during the last 10 million years in Southern Caucasus to achieve a more holistic understanding of the early phases of human evolution and expansions. |
