Nominator's project description

Professor Akhmediev is a world leader in theoretical nonlinear optics. He has made outstanding contributions to conservative nonlinear optics with applications to short pulse lasers, communication systems and rogue waves as well as to dissipative solitons, localized solutions arising in nonlinear non-equilibrium systems. In Germany, Professor Akhmediev will advance his research on Ginzburg-Landau vortices, surface solitons, solitons in photonic lattices and on localized solutions in dissipative systems.
