Nominator's project description
| Professor Dan Henningson from KTH (Royal Technical University) Stockholm, Sweden Professor Henningson is internationally recognized for his outstanding research on transition and turbulence, as well as flow control and flow design. Using and developing methods for direct numerical simulations of flows and for their stability analysis and control, he has contributed significantly to recent developments and the advancement of fluid dynamics. During his stay in Germany he intends to work on applying and extending ideas from non-linear dynamical systems to spatially developing boundary layers for characterizing the transition of turbulence (Marburg) and on the use of snapshot-based methods for stability and control investigations on complicated incompressible and compressible flow cases (Stuttgart). Professor Henningson is hosted by Professor Bruno Eckhardt at Philipps-Universität Marburg and by Professor Ulrich Rist at the Universität Stuttgart. |
