Nominator's project description

Professor John Kanet is internationally recognized for his research in operations planning and control. He has made significant contributions to the field of production scheduling and in the design of production and inventory systems. Professor Kanet combines a wide variety of mathematical methods with intuitive insight to achieve his results. Throughout his career he has generously devoted much effort to facilitate exchange between US and German faculty and students. During his visits to Germany, his intention is to further develop his ideas for a general model for planning manufacturing systems.
