Nominator's project description

Professor Yang is an internationally recognized leader in the field of chemical reaction dynamics. He has made important contributions to verifying the validity of first principles quantum mechanical simulations of chemical reactivity by performing highly sophisticated experiments against which theory can be tested. He is particularly well known for his application of the Rydberg atom tagging method to bimolecular chemical reactions. During his research stay in Germany he intends to help adapt this method to the study of energy transfer and reactivity at metal surfaces. Professor Yang is hosted by Professor Alec Michael Wodtke at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Goettingen.
