Nominator's project description
| Professor Lennart Bergström is one of the leading Inorganic Material Chemists in the world who bridges deep basic, knowledge-driven science with applications needed for a more sustainable society. His work on functional zeolithes for instance allowed the purification of biogas and the separation of CO2 from flue gases. In biomineralization, he was able to show that the further fate of a crystal is already "programmed" in the first embryonic clusters formed. The Humboldt Award also honours an excellent academic teacher and a visible spokesperson of science driving internationality. |
