Nominator's project description

Professor Yeh Wen-hsin is a leading international authority on 20th century Chinese history and well known for her path-breaking research on social and cultural history. Through her work she has made important contributions to the study of Republican history (1911-1949), Chinese modernity, the origins of communism and related subjects. During her stay in Germany she plans to organize an international conference about the future of China studies between interdisciplinary discourses and globalized science exchange networks and work on the research about Chen Yinke's conception of "National studies" and its influence on the modern comprehension of history in China.
