Nominator's project description
| Professor Merchant is a leading scientist in the field of plant molecular biology and biochemistry. She is best known for her pioneering studies on the biology of trace metal nutrition and her great contributions to genomics and photosynthesis in algae. Her research has established paradigms for metal cofactor sparing and recycling, the impact of which extends far beyond plant biology. During her stay in Germany, Professor Merchant intends to further develop systems biology approaches in algae and explore the functions of new proteins that are linked to the evolution of photosynthesis. |
