Nominator's project description

Professor Thomas W. Baumgarte is a leading expert in numerical general relativity and relativistic astrophysics. He has made outstanding contributions to the physical understanding of neutron stars and black holes, as well as to analytical and numerical methods that allow the study of these compact objects by numerical simulation. During his stay in Germany, he intends to investigate the collapse of relativistic matter to black holes.
