Nominator's project description

Professor Takeda is a respected international authority with outstanding reputation in optical sciences. He has done pioneering work in the development and establishment of Fourier analysis methods for the precise and automatic reconstruction of phase distributions in optical imaging and metrology. His invention has not only enabled a number of important applications for high precision optical metrology but even more has stimulated several new scientific directions for the investigation of extreme physical phenomena as observed in attosecond physics and electron holography. During his research stay in Germany Prof. Takeda will continue his investigations in the field of coherence holography - a new direction that was significantly created by his work. Professor Mitsuo Takeda is hosted by Professor Wolfgang Osten at Stuttgart University and Professor Andreas Tünnermann at Friedrich-Schiller University Jena.
