Nominator's project description
Professor Ayse Selcuk Esenbel from the Bogazici University (University of the Bosphorus), Turkey Professor Ayse Selcuk Esenbel is one of the most renowned historians in Turkey. Trained in the United States and with Japan as her primary research field, she has made enormous contributions to transnational and global history. By exploring the history of relations, transfers and entanglements between East Asia and Turkey, she underlined the limitations of nation-centered historiography in its present state. In Germany she will continue her work on the history of trans-cultural dynamics and exchanges. Professor Selcuk Esenbel is hosted by Professor Dominic Sachsenmaier at Jacobs University in Bremen. |
