Nominator's project description
| As one of today's leading Indian historians and archaeologists Professor Ray's work has been ground-breaking for the history and archaeology of early India. She has established new areas of research such as Maritime History of the Indian Ocean, Social History of religious architecture, especially Buddhist monastic complexes in South and Southeast Asia, and colonial interventions in the study of India’s past. The cooperation with Professor Ray will result in a heightened international visibility for India-related disciplines in Germany and emphasis on inter-disciplinary work. Prof. Ray is hosted by Prof. Monika Zin from the Institute for Indology and Tibetology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich. |
