Nominator's project description

Professor Dimitrios Beskos is well known internationally for his outstanding research in the field of computational mechanics and especially in boundary element and finite element methods. In Germany he continues his research on the seismic analysis and design of retaining walls in interaction with poroelastic soils and soils with stress induced inhomogeneity as well as the development of a performance-based seismic design procedure for retaining wall structures.
