Nominator's project description

Dr. Salac is a leading archaeologist and internationally well-known for his work on economic systems of Celtic societies in the last centuries B.C. He has defined new types of settlements that occupy central positions in local and superregional production and distribution systems. Furthermore, his work has focussed on the relationship between Celtic and Germanic societies in prehistoric central Europe, establishing new models of the development of the so-called Marbod-empire in Bohemia at the turn of the era. During his stay in Schleswig, Dr. Salac will focus his research work on interregional communication networks and on the role of hillforts in prehistoric settlement systems.
