Nominator's project description
| Professor Vilonen is one of the leading figures in representation theory, a branch of pure mathematics which draws its questions from theoretical physics, geometry and number theory. He has become famous for his use of geometric tools to resolve deep and long-standing problems in the field, including most recently his proof of the so-called codimension three conjectures with Kashiwara. During his stay in Germany, he intends to focus on the modular representation theory and extend the applicability of geometric tools to this important field. |
