Nominator's project description
| Professor.Tsybakov is one of the most prominent researchers in the field of mathematical statistics of high-dimensional models. Exploring high-dimensional models with big data presents one of the main challenges of the modern statistical science. Construction of efficient methods for such models is based on the premise that complex high-dimensional outputs reflect a hidden simple low-dimensional structure that has to be recovered. Statistical inference under this paradigm known under the name of sparsity is being intensively developed since recently in an active interaction between applied fields and theoretical statistics. Professor Tsybakov is the central person in these developments. During his stay in Germany, Professor Tsybakov intends to work on several high-dimensional sparse statistical model specifications in different settings. |
