Nominator's project description
| Professor Maribel Fierro is an outstanding international expert of Islamic societies in the western Mediterranean. She inaugurated new approaches to knowledge, authority, violence and punishment. She contributed to internationalizing Spanish academy and to making studies of the medieval Islamic West an accepted part of general debates about the Islamic world. In Germany, Professor Fierro focuses on four topics shedding light on knowledge practices: bodily performances in scholarship, literary canons, forms of control of scholarly knowledge, and the topos of the Wise Ruler. |
