Nominator's project description
| Professor Pons has distinguished himself as a world leader in the physics and astrophysics of neutron stars. In particular, he has provided long-lasting contributions to the understanding of the long-term evolution of their intense magnetic fields. Because neutron stars can be regarded as laboratories probing fundamental aspects of physics, Professor Pons’ work has significantly advanced our understanding of matter under the most extreme conditions of density, temperature, magnetic fields, and gravity. During his stay in Frankfurt he will derive the set of equations for the evolution of magnetic fields in a neutron-star core |
