Nominator's project description
| Professor Sundaresan stands out as a leading thinker in the field of multi-phase flows, which is at the core of many processes, ranging from chemical reactors to unit operations in food and pharmaceutical industries. He is widely recognized as a pioneer in the development of coarse-grained multi-fluid models for reacting multi-phase flows that enable affordable simulations of coarse flow structures in complex large-scale gas-particle flows. During his stay in Germany, he intends to examine the connection between fluidization and agglomeration dynamics through detailed, particle-scale simulations of fluidization of wet particles and seeks constitutive relations needed for process-scale models, which can be used for advanced particle formulation rate processes. |
