Nominator's project description

Professor Cheng is a leading expert in the field of bioengineering. He uses a combination of mathematical modelling and experimental techniques to improve the understanding of human gastrointestinal and cardiac electrophysiology. His research has resulted in major technological advances in the association of complex spatial dysrhythmias with gastric motility disorders. These advances have had major impact with a number of editorial articles highlighting his work. During his research stay in Germany, Professor Cheng focuses on topics ranging from robotics, medical device development, bio-signal processing to mathematical modelling for biomedical applications.
