Nominator's project description
Dr. Biswas is an internationally very well-known researcher in the field of ecosystem studies and marine biogeochemistry. Her work is an excellent example of the combination of observations and experiments with the aim to better understand the impact of climate change on ocean biological, chemical and physical processes. An outstanding example is her research on the impact of enhanced CO2 levels on the activity of phytoplankton. In Germany, Dr. Biswas intends to investigate the past phytoplankton community composition by analyzing biomarkers and geochemical temperature proxies. This will allow a reconstruction of phytoplankton community shifts and relate them to past climate change. |
