Nominator's project description

Professor Schillewaert is an outstanding international mathematician and expert in the fields of geometry and group theory. Group theory is concerned with symmetries of geometric structures. His work includes important contributions on groups acting on so-called buildings. These are geometric structures that play a central role in modern group theory. During his stay in Germany, he plans to work on spaces of non-positive curvature and fixed-point theorems.
