Nominator's project description
| Professor Piers is internationally renowned for his outstanding research in mechanistic organometallic chemistry. He has made seminal contributions to the chemistry of highly electrophilic boranes as well as group 3 organometallics. Professor Piers has achieved major breakthroughs in catalysis research covering the topics olefin polymerization, diene ring-closing metathesis, and small-molecule activation. During his stay in Germany, he intends to elaborate the chemistry of rare-earth metal alkyl, amide, and imide compounds and to investigate into nanostructured materials derived from perfluoroaryl boranes and boron-containing heterocycles. |
