Nominator's project description

Professor Piers is internationally renowned for his outstanding research in mechanistic organometallic chemistry. He has made seminal contributions to the chemistry of highly electrophilic boranes as well as group 3 organometallics. Professor Piers has achieved major breakthroughs in catalysis research covering the topics olefin polymerization, diene ring-closing metathesis, and small-molecule activation. During his stay in Germany, he intends to elaborate the chemistry of rare-earth metal alkyl, amide, and imide compounds and to investigate into nanostructured materials derived from perfluoroaryl boranes and boron-containing heterocycles.
